Italian Dolomites

The Dolomites is by far, the most stunning mountain landscape I have ever seen. I met my family friends in Venice and we went by train up to Bolzano, a charming village south of the Dolomites. We then met up with our Backroads travel group of around 14 other people. Five days of walking and hiking in the Italian Alps…. I was in heaven. For lunch we would stop at mountain top rifugio’s for great food and drink. My favorite day of the trip was hiking through the Seiser Alm, a vast plateau with small farms and villages. All nestled under the huge massifs of the Langkofel and Plattkofel mountains. Another day we also got to experience a World War 1 military reenactment at the historically significant Cinque Torri. I saw quite a few horses while hiking, as well as jumped into an alpine lake called Volser Weiher.
