Surfing

Surfing runs in my family’s blood. My grandfather Doug Thorne was one the founding members of the Santa Cruz Surf Club starting back in the early 1940’s. From a young age, Doug loved the ocean, and the ocean played a key role in many of his life decisions that shaped his life. He surfed from the early age of twelve years old, all the way to his mid-eighties. A passion bred from the joy of being in and around the water with good friends. He has since passed away four years ago, but his inspiration lives on in my heart, and his longboards that he left behind to my family. Every time I go surfing now, I can still feel his presence and his spirit. A tradition passed down from one generation to the next.
